Dolls and tassels……it doesn't get any better than that! Add some sparkle and pretty fibers and you get a one of a kind mixed media show stopper! Join Robin for this magical class and learn lots of techniques to convert seemingly odd parts into a magical tassel to wear or add to your art collection. Robin has been making tassels for over 20 years and playing with dolls for 45 so she has lots of experience and advice she’s willing to share on what makes a good tassel lay properly along with problem solving and construction techniques.
Learn sturdy applications to construct odd parts onto a vintage metal salt shaker along with easy wire, fiber and chain assembly for the “skirt” paired with a little soldered metal trim to add extra dangles. She’ll have kits available for purchase however you are not obligated to buy one if you want to bring your own supplies. The kits will have: antique doll head, vintage metal shaker, doll arms, key, fibers and old lace, metal trim, chain, wire, beads, glass vial and vintage ephemera. The kits will be neutral colors, one of a kind and will vary from the picture but be equally as dazzling! IF I have extra heads and shakers those will be available for purchase separately along with other fun doo dads. There is a small bit of soldering but most of the class time will be used to assemble the tassel. The necklace portion is not included in the kit but I may have some for purchase depending on availability.
The most important part is making the tassel itself.
Please bring the following supplies:
~Soldering equipment and solder (if you don’t have any let me know ahead)
~jewelry pliers: round nose, chain nose and cutter
~extra charms and odd bits to add to your tassel
~small hole punch tool for metal
~fabric and paper scissors
~sharpie
Payments need to be made before class in order to reserve your seat and are non-refundable.
Please contact Robin on how you would like to pay.
She accepts PayPal, check or credit card.
